30 Great Summer Dates: Fondue for Two

fondue restaurant fondue pot fondue date nightSay farewell to typical dinners and find new fun with an “experience meal” instead. That’s what The Man and I sought out to do on Saturday night when we ventured on over to The Melting Pot to dine on some delicious fondue – and it was seriously delicious.

I admit, we’d never been to a fondue restaurant before, in fact, as we quickly learned, we didn’t know the half about how to properly fondue. So much so that The Man was initially a little turned off when they brought out plates of raw meat for us to work with. His exact words, “We drive almost an hour, waited all this time for the meal to come, and you’re telling me we have to cook our own dinner?” It was hilarious. He was really turned off at first, but after he tasted his first bite and started experimenting with the different batters and dipping sauces he quickly came around. We ended up having an awesome time; so much so that we’re already planning a trip back – soon!

All four courses were amazing – especially dessert – and the ambience was ultra romantic. The walls in each booth were so high it felt like we were the only ones there, and the dim lights and candles truly set a mood. The best part: It didn’t break the bank! We even had a couple cocktails and still found the bill to be reasonable.

Full disclosure: Yes, that's my god so you see to my right. We don't get to see him as much as we'd like so when we have a chance to combine date night and time with him, we do!

Is there a fondue joint near you? (Check The Melting Pot’s listings, they’re all over the country!)  If so, you must try it. We’re officially fondue junkies. Oh, and if you do go to The Melting Pot, I highly recommend ordering the Cajun style entrée. The Man did and I didn’t and I think I ate almost all of his food. (Wife’s right, of course!)

  1. I absolutely love the melting pot! There isn't one close to me currently, but I keep it on my radar. It is a perfect date night place. To others who try it, be sure to have plenty of time to truly enjoy the entire experience.

The Melting Pot is the best! They have a wonderful ladies night menu too. You can get a 4 course fondue dinner for $35 and discounted cocktails. Cooking and eating keeps the convos going. A lot of people think you won't get full, but you definitely leave satisfied. I love the atmosphere of the Melting Pot and there is not tons of people watching you eat.
