When I Love You Is All You Have Time to Say

black couple happy in love healthy marriage blogNow that I’ve started an awesome (but crazy) new job I work 14-hour days and when I’m home I’m usually sleepwalking or blogging to catch up. Since The Man’s work schedule is almost completely opposite of mine we haven’t seen each other much lately – and we’ve barely spent any quality time. Such is life, and I know this, but I really do miss my husband.

The other night we shared a moment that I think only busy couples who live together could understand. I got home with one hour to kill before my new super early bed time (I get up at 5am now) and my husband was 100 percent distracted by the NBA finals (will they end already!) so we weren’t really paying any attention to each other. The entire hour went by and all I remember us saying to each other was “I love you” and “I love you back”. He said it once during a commercial break and I said it once while I looked up from the laptop waiting for a photo to upload. There we were, two people in a room, distracted to no end, and the one phrase we chose to sneak in there was “I love you”. That’s a beautiful thing!

I’m glad that when there’s no time to say anything else those are the words we choose. It lets me know we picked the right partners in each other and I’m so thankful for that.

Okay, enough mushy stuff. Happy Friday ladies! Here are some photos from a wonderful evening The Man and I shared the weekend before I started my new job. Here’s to hoping this one tops that one. Enjoy the two days kids!

Sometimes it is not about conversations with each other that spill into the late hours of the night (and those are important at times) but the little things. The other day we were at the dining table drinking coffee after breakfast while the baby napped, both of us engrossed in our laptops. And it hit me that without even knowing it, we were playfully tapping each others feet with our toes, and he had wordlessly filled my glass with juice that he knows I like to drink after breakfast and coffee. It really is the little things.

Girl! I've been there, done that, and starred in the made-for-tv movie. My hubby and I or on opposite schedules too, but there's something about that "I love you" that makes us feel good about US! Hang in there, and cherish the moments you do get to spend with him!

  6. While my husband and I don't have opposite schedules, we communicate through emails and SMS' during the day. Too busy to talk, too many meetings. But I don't think a day has ever gone by without one of us initiating the "I love you" in almost 12 years of marriage. He's actually better than me at remembering to say it. We made a rule back when we were dating that we would not say I love you too, in reply; but instead find another moment in the day to say it…. lately I've been breaking the rule because of time constraints….but it's a nice one to break.
Keep it up, and tell your husband GOOOOO HEAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
